Using the theme of gardens in my recent work has led me to explore and investigate the four seasons of plants. The images I have selected to submit to the BAA were painted during the lockdown brought on by COVID. They were inspired by my need to find beauty, new life and the lushness of plants which took me to study my garden. To work in the garden is to be in direct contact with plant shapes, their colors and the smells from the good earth. I needed to put myself, both literally and figuratively, in touch with my garden and then bring those elements into my studio work. These paintings renew and refresh.
